We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join our friendly team at our Widnes Centre and help make a positive difference to the lives of young adults with SEND.

Job Description

  • To support learners with LDD/SEND in a variety of classroom settings
  • To provide one-to-one support as directed by the Head of Learning or the class tutor
  • Provide learning support within a group and on an individual basis
  • To act as a scribe/reader/exam invigilator as required
  • To support students during breaks
  • To contribute to learners’ ILPs
  • To work closely with team members to ensure that ILP targets are monitored and reviewed
  • To be aware of individual learners’ risk assessments and needs
  • To support learners to access transport and with travel training_
  • To accompany learners during work experience placements, both on and off-site
  • Accompany learners on outings, visits, community and recreational activities
  • Encourage independence and self-help skills wherever possible.
  • Keep records associated with the support role.
  • to undertake any other duties that are reasonably requested by management and are appropriate to the role.

Experience And Qualifications

  • Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Level 2/3 Qualification in learning support or equivalent (desirable)
  • Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools
  • Award in Education (desirable)
  • ELSA experience (desirable)
  • Understanding of working with young adults who have SEND
  • Awareness of disabilities.
  • Ability to relate well to children and vulnerable young adults
  • Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these settings

Education

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

Experience

  • SEND: 1 year (required)
