As home to the largest Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Principal Treatment Centre in the North, we provide innovative, compassionate care to over 350 young people across inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory settings.

We are seeking a passionate, highly motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) who is driven to deliver exceptional care and continuously improve services. You will bring substantial experience in medical and/or oncology settings, alongside an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.

The post holder will work across the inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory setting as required. The role may in the future incorporate Weekends and Bank Holidays working.

  • Provide clinical assessment and support to the care and treatment of a diverse caseload of patients requiring oncology/haematology input and transplant.
  • Demonstrate a highly specialist knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of patients with oncological/haematological malignancies and those requiring transplant.
  • Demonstrate a high level of specialist knowledge and skills in the acute care and management of patients receiving SACT.
  • Provide medical support to the inpatient, day unit and ambulatory care units at The Christie Foundation Trust.
  • Request investigations, procedures and make appropriate referrals maintaining relevant clinical records.
  • Non-Medical prescribing is fundamental in supporting this role.
  • Clinical examination skills are essential for this role.
  • Provide clinical expertise for developing and enhancing the TYA oncology, haematology and transplant service.
  • Work alongside the medical, AHP and nursing teams, maintaining good communication and collaboration between the various multidisciplinary teams.
  • To be a highly visible and approachable role model, ensuring that best practice is disseminated throughout the clinical areas.
  • Demonstrate a high commitment to the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice which includes Clinical practice, Education, Leadership and Management, and Research.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country. We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.

The Christie TYA & haematology service acts as a tertiary referral centre for the management of patients with oncology, haematological malignancies and bone marrow failure. Inpatient haematology and transplant services for both adults and Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) patients are provided by the 31 bedded Palatine Treatment Ward, and the 4 bedded Withington Ward. Outpatient TYA oncology/ haematology services are provided by the TYA Day Unit, Haematology and Transplant Day Unit (HTDU) and the ambulatory care facility. The Christie TYA & haematology service has grown extensively over the past few years with the development of new treatments and CAR T.
