About the role

An exciting time to join the Buildings Asset Management team, responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of assets including stations, Maintenance Delivery Units, personnel accommodation, and Train Care Centres across the East Coast and North & East Routes. As we move towards Great British Railways, this is a period of unprecedented collaboration as the industry comes together with a shared vision for the future. In the Senior Asset Engineer [Managed Stations] role, you will lead and manage the maintenance and renewal of the route Managed Station assets (Building Fabric) to deliver Network Rail's goals. Provide engineering expertise on Managed Station (Leeds and Kings Cross) building fabric maintenance, renewal and enhancement matters. You will be an integrated member of the stations team ensuring we provide a great experience for our passengers

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the asset stewardship and inspection of operational property building fabric assets (Managed Stations) in accordance with asset policy and technical strategy and report tenant lease non-compliance and the monitoring of tenant dilapidations with particular reference to building fabric.
  • Make recommendations and instructions for repair and renewal works required and assist with the development and management of prioritised route maintenance and renewal workbanks and integrated plans. Assist with the preparation of details for national and route periodic business plan reviews. Manage changes and outputs to integrated plans for operational property assets.
  • Lead the production of maintenance, renewal and enhancement (PRS) remits which specify the work necessary to deliver Network Rail's goals and their inclusion in the workbank. Oversee the development and implementation of schemes to verify whether requirements are sufficient, correctly interpreted and delivered. Specify and monitor the implementation of control measures where proposed works are deferred.
  • Act as sponsor for complex and specialist maintenance and all renewal schemes. Discharge all sponsor's accountabilities in accordance with corporate policy.
  • Lead the asset management / engineering analysis and risk assessment of maintenance and renewals schemes during the early development phase, in compliance with Network Rail's standards and procedures and develop business cases, where appropriate.
  • Lead the review of proposals from other asset groups or external organisations that impact on maintenance or renewal activity, identify potential synergies and develop optimised plans as applicable.
  • Monitor trends in maintenance and renewal work, asset condition, failure and failure precursors. Check that appropriate action is specified to predict and prevent similar failures.
  • Provide engineering support and participate in investigations of incidents relating to building fabric maintenance and renewals.
  • Develop and implement processes to maintain records relating to the existence, configuration and modification history of building fabric assets.
  • Manage the PPM programme of works (Building Fabric - Managed Stations) in accordance with Operational Property National remit. Review and audit delivery against remit.
  • Manage the technical approval process of landlords consent applications for all non Network Rail works at Managed Stations and monitor compliance with agreed targets for close out / completion of approvals.

Essential Criteria

  • Incorporated Engineer
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent

Membership of relevant professional institution

  • Broad and extensive relevant experience of operational property engineering
  • Comprehensive knowledge of policies and standards relating to operational property

Desirable Criteria

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent
  • Membership of relevant professional institution

Salary: £55,596 to £67,813 per annum .
