Gateshead College are looking for qualified and experienced Boxing Teacher to continue delivering their successful England Boxing, Level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme to young elite boxers. Applicants must hold a minimum level 3 coaching qualification and have at least 5 years boxing coaching experience at a high level.
The full-time DiSE teacher role involves management, delivery and assessment of all DiSE theory and practical units. Applicants will need to achieve the assessors award qualification if they do not already have it.
DiSE is a level 3 education programme funded through the Department for Culture Media and Sport. Boxers on the DiSE programme must also be in alternative full-time education such as A levels, BTEC, a non-sports apprenticeship, or other vocational qualifications for the duration of the DiSE programme.
DiSE is an essential part of England Boxing’s long-term athlete development pathway. It supports talented and committed young athletes who have a realistic potential to achieve excellence in their sport. It combines Boxing and full-time education, so they have the skills, knowledge and competence to pursue sporting excellence alongside education and a future career.
DiSE offers a dual career pathway for athletes who have been recognised and nominated by their National Governing Body as having high potential for excellence. The programme is delivered over two years offering a combination of high- performance boxing alongside the athlete’s chosen further education studies.
About the DiSE Programme
The programme is part of England Boxing's talent pathway and is funded through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. It is aimed at young athletes with realistic potential to compete at a high level while continuing their academic or vocational studies.
Key Requirements
- Minimum Level 2 Boxing Coaching Qualification
- At least 5 years' high-level boxing coaching experience
- Ability to manage, deliver, and assess both practical and theory units
- Willingness to obtain an Assessor Award Qualification if not already held
- Experience working with talented young athletes
Main Responsibilities
- Recruitment of a minimum of 15 Boxers onto the programme
- Lead the DiSE boxing programme
- Deliver coaching and educational content
- Assess learner performance and progress
- Support elite young boxers balancing sport and education
- Manage programme administration and athlete development
