alfour Beatty plays a key role as part of Anglian Water’s @one Alliance – a ground-breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and industry-leading partners including Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. Together, we deliver around 40% of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme, creating sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure that serves millions of customers across the East of England.

As we progress through AMP8 – our most ambitious asset management period to date – we're looking for an experienced Site Supervisor to help lead the safe and efficient delivery of our civil engineering projects across the region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive construction professional who enjoys leading teams, driving high standards, and making a real impact on the successful delivery of essential infrastructure projects.

What you'll be doing

As a Site Supervisor, you’ll oversee the safe and efficient delivery of civil works across our water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working closely with Site and Construction Managers, you’ll manage direct labour and subcontractors on site, ensuring all activities meet safety, quality, and environmental standards. You’ll play a key role in planning, supervising, and driving progress, while promoting best practice and fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of site operatives and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with @one Alliance requirements, statutory regulations, permits and approved method statements.
  • Carry out site inspections, toolbox talks and pre-start briefings to promote a strong health and safety culture.
  • Monitor temporary works, plant checks and site activities to ensure full compliance.
  • Lead by example, encouraging near-miss reporting, good housekeeping and behavioural safety.
  • Drive quality standards by ensuring inspection and test plans are followed and works are delivered right first time.
  • Track and report progress, identifying and resolving issues that could impact programme or budget.
  • Manage the ordering and coordination of plant, equipment and materials.
  • Support, motivate and mentor site teams, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, customers and members of the public.

Who we're looking for

What we're looking for

  • CSCS Supervisor Card.
  • Proven experience supervising civil construction activities.
  • CITB SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate teams and contractors.
  • Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • IT literate and confident using digital construction tools and systems.
  • Track record of delivering projects safely, on time and to a high standard.

Desirable

  • CPCS Lift Supervisor.
  • Temporary Works Supervisor accreditation.
  • NRSWA Supervisor qualification.
  • HSG47 Underground Service Avoidance training.
  • Experience within the water, utilities or infrastructure sector.
