Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust

Job Overview

Cardiac Physiologist – Band 5 (Newly Qualified or Experienced)

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Cardiac Physiologist to join our friendly and forward‑thinking Cardiology team. This opportunity is open to both newly qualified practitioners and those already working at Band 5 who are keen to develop their skills further.

Our busy Cardiology Department delivers a comprehensive range of invasive and non‑invasive investigations, offering you excellent exposure and variety. You’ll be actively supported through a personal development programme, with encouragement to broaden your competencies and progress your career.

To succeed in this role, you’ll be a team player with proven skills in ECG recording and rhythm recognition, alongside a good working understanding of echocardiography, pacing and catheter laboratory procedures. You’ll be patient‑focused, adaptable, and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same.

If you’re passionate about cardiac physiology and looking to grow within a supportive, high‑quality service, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you’ll contribute to the day‑to‑day clinical and operational delivery of both invasive and non‑invasive cardiology services, helping to ensure safe, effective, and high‑quality patient care. Alongside delivering clinical activity, you’ll provide support to colleagues and play an important role in the smooth running of a complex and specialist cardiology service.

You’ll work closely within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating regularly with consultants, medical staff at all levels, clinical assistants, nurses, radiographers and clerical colleagues. The role involves undertaking a broad and varied range of procedures, many of which are complex and non‑routine, offering excellent opportunity for professional development.

The post includes rotational shift working over six days, including

Sunday working, participation in the on‑call rota (catheter laboratory), and occasional work within a community setting.
