Job Summary
What you’ll do
We are looking for a full-time Compliance On-Boarding Assistant to join our Exeter office on a permanent basis.
As a Compliance On-Boarding Assistant, you will support the firm’s centralised Client On-Boarding team by ensuring new clients and matters are set up accurately and efficiently. This includes creating client and matter records within the firm’s Practice Management System (PMS), carrying out conflict checks, and assisting with client due diligence processes in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
You will conduct electronic ID verification checks for individuals and organisations, including sanctions screening, Politically Exposed Person (PEP) checks and adverse media searches. You will review documentation, identify anomalies or areas of concern, and advise colleagues on any additional information required to meet compliance requirements.
You will also support client and matter risk assessments, maintain accurate internal records, and assist with the firm’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) obligations, including Source of Funds and Source of Wealth requirements where appropriate.
Working closely with colleagues across the firm, you will provide support on onboarding and compliance matters by telephone, video call and in person. You will also undertake general administrative duties and assist with wider compliance projects as required.
Through effective prioritisation, attention to detail and a proactive approach, you will help ensure the firm’s onboarding processes operate smoothly and efficiently while supporting its wider regulatory responsibilities.
Who you are
You will bring strong attention to detail and a professional approach to your work. You communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and are able to remain calm, organised and focused when working to deadlines and managing competing priorities.
A collaborative and flexible approach is important, as is a willingness to support colleagues and contribute positively to the team. You will have strong organisational and time-management skills, together with an interest in analytical and investigative work and the ability to identify inconsistencies and exercise sound judgement.
You will be confident using Microsoft Office applications and other IT systems, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a professional, approachable manner.
Previous experience within a client onboarding, compliance or professional services environment would be advantageous, but is not essential. We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn, organised and able to manage a varied workload with accuracy and professionalism. Knowledge of AML, client onboarding processes or Elite 3E would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
