We are seeking a caring, organised and reliable Domestic Assistant/Housekeeper to join our Residential Children's Service. This important role helps create a safe, clean, comfortable and welcoming home environment for children and young people living in our care.
About the Role
As a Domestic Assistant/Housekeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the home. You will support the day-to-day running of the household by undertaking cleaning, laundry and kitchen duties, helping to ensure that young people live in a homely and well-maintained environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Cleaning designated areas to maintain a hygienic and comfortable environment.
- Supporting kitchen and dining room tasks, including laying tables, washing up and keeping areas clean and tidy.
- Assisting with laundry duties and role modelling good household practices to young people.
- Reporting any faults with equipment and ensuring unsafe items are taken out of use.
- Following health and safety procedures and maintaining quality standards across the home. Upholding confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities at all times
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Has knowledge or experience of cleaning and hygiene practices.
- Understands the importance of health and safety in the workplace.
- Works in an organised and methodical manner.
- Demonstrates tact, tolerance and flexibility. Can work effectively as part of a team
Previous experience using domestic cleaning equipment and laundry appliances would be advantageous but is not essential.
What You Need to Know
This role is based within a children's residential setting, and successful applicants will need to:
- Undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
- Be physically and mentally fit to undertake the role.
- Understand and support safeguarding responsibilities. Be comfortable working within an environment that can be emotionally demanding, where young people may display challenging behaviours
