An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious PhD qualified Engineer to design and develop an innovative instrument for wound healing measurement. Construction of the device involves the fabrication of optical fibre sensors, their characterisation, development of an opto-electronic measurement. The main aim of the proposed work is to develop an automated approach for reliable manufacturing of optical fibre ammonia and temperature sensors.
Candidates should hold, a PhD in Electronic, Biomedical or Optical Engineering.
Essential knowledge and experience required
- Development of instrumentation.
- Fibre optics sensors in the field of healthcare.
- Knowledge of optical fibre physical sensors, optoelectronics and systems designs.
- Data capture, recording of data and report writing to a professional standard.
The successful candidate must possess
- Ability to work independently and also work as part of a team
- Enthusiasm, motivation and drive to embed new knowledge and to take full ownership of the project
- Excellent interpersonal skills
