Show visitors our historic city as a tour guide for CitySightseeing York!

We’re looking for a friendly, confident storyteller who loves meeting new people and delivering great customer experiences. In this role, you’ll bring York’s history and culture to life through engaging live commentary, entertaining audiences of all ages, while helping visitors make the most of their time in our beautiful City.

What You’ll Be Doing...

As a CitySightseeing York Tour Guide, you’ll be an ambassador for York’s culture, history and attractions, showing off our fantastic city with live commentary on our famous open-top bus tours.

  • Bring York to life! Deliver lively, engaging live commentary during our bus tours, sharing the stories, secrets, and fascinating history of this incredible city with our customers.
  • Be a storyteller and city ambassador. Research York’s culture, landmarks, and events to create a memorable experience filled with personality, humour, and passion for the city.
  • Create a warm welcome. Greet customers with enthusiasm, assist with boarding, and provide a friendly, approachable presence from the moment they arrive.
  • Deliver unforgettable experiences. Help inspire glowing reviews and encourage visitors to return to York again and again.
  • Look after every guest. Support customers with mobility needs, families, and visitors unfamiliar with the area, making sure everyone feels comfortable, included, and well cared for.

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • A confident communicator and natural people-person who loves delivering great customer service.
  • An engaging storyteller with the ability to captivate audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Comfortable speaking to groups using a microphone, with the ability to adapt your style to suit the audience.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for York, its history and culture – experience in customer service, hospitality, or tourism is a bonus.

What you can look forward to...

  • An hourly rate of £13.06.
  • Working 15 hours per week over 3 days, including a Saturday and Sunday with the potential of overtime if required

As this is a Tour Guide (temp) role the contract will come to an end on 1 November 2026.
