Inventory Control Team Leader

Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Control Team Leader to join our team at our Bellshill site. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and optimisation of inventory across our operational business unit, driving effective stock control, compliance and continuous improvement. You'll lead a high-performing team while working collaboratively with internal and external partners to reduce complexity, minimise waste and support operational excellence.

Main Responsibility

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Inventory Control team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate inventory records across all internal and external locations, implementing robust stock control measures to minimise discrepancies and improve inventory integrity
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure inventory control processes meet all legislative, compliance and HMRC requirements
  • Drive the continued reduction of Slow-Moving and Obsolete Inventory (SLOB) through regular reporting, assignment of ownership and delivery of targeted improvement actions
  • Minimise inventory obsolescence by effectively managing the PIPO process for new product developments, product delistings and portfolio changes
  • Lead SKU Portfolio Optimisation initiatives through regular brand reviews, influencing decision-making and reducing SKU complexity across the business
  • Partner with GTS and suppliers to support the rollout of EDI capabilities while driving improvements in SKU classification and shelf-life management
  • Monitor inventory performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and providing clear insights to support informed business decisions
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships, ensuring effective communication, knowledge sharing and alignment across teams
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, standards and guidelines, reporting any non-conformances in a timely manner and maintaining strong governance and control

Our Ideal Candidate

About You

  • Proven experience in inventory control, materials management, supply chain or a related operational environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing successful teams
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles, stock control processes and compliance requirements
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and drive improvements through insight-led decision-making
  • Experience managing inventory optimisation initiatives, including obsolescence reduction and SKU rationalisation
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements
  • Well organised with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of governance and accuracy
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and functions
