The Role
Coventry University and Deakin University have a long-standing partnership spanning joint research, student mobility, and dual award degrees. Building on this collaboration, the new Strategic Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme will support research-led postdoctoral projects that enhance research excellence, funding, and impact. Each fellowship will pair one postdoctoral researcher at Coventry University with another at Deakin University, working independently yet collaboratively to maximise collective outcomes.
The Coventry based Fellowship will focus on the development of a structure for developing global report cards for motor competence. The goal is to have a toy model of the report card with all the indicators to be provided by countries. Our approach will align with the Global Matrix on Physical Activity for Children and Youth Report Cards initiative, which has enabled countries to spotlight and advocate for physical activity. The Fellow will work with stakeholders (e.g. teachers, parents, policy makers) and develop the format, structure of the cards providing the pathway to implementation of the global report cards. This essential insight provides the foundation for embedding public health intervention in practice to enhance the holistic development of people worldwide.
We are recruiting a Research Fellow within the Centre for Healthcare and Community Transformation to undertake and play a lead role in the development of impactful research and consultancy activity. Using your expert knowledge within the field you will develop and identify new research objectives, proposals, and impact activities for your own or joint research, while contributing to REF impact rated nationally/internationally excellent.
You will undertake the publication of your research results and outcomes with a view to developing a national/international profile and publish in a variety of formats including the projects website and peer-review papers.
Qualifications Required
PhD (or equivalent) or professional experience equivalent to a PhD demonstrating an ability to carry-out independent research
1st Class/2.1 Degree in in an appropriate subject aligned to motor development for physical activity.
Active membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g., IMDRC, CASES) is advantageous
Our Successful Candidate
A highly motivated and experienced Research Fellow with demonstrable expert knowledge and understanding of motor competence and physical activity, including experience contributing to the innovation and development of the field. An Advanced knowledge of research methods and techniques with demonstratable adherence to all regulations, you will have the ability to develop research objectives, projects, and proposals for own and joint research.
Research sufficient to write up research and produce excellent, high-quality publications in high profile peer reviewed journals and present at national/international events, you will be committed to working collaboratively on research development, delivery and dissemination including interdisciplinary or cross-disciplinary research, public engagement, and knowledge exchange.
