About the Role

Radfield Home Care Wakefield & Huddersfield is looking for an experienced

Live-in Carer to provide high-quality, person-centred support for a client within their own home.

The client is living with Dementia and requires compassionate, consistent support from someone who understands the changing nature of dementia and is confident managing unpredictability, disengagement and behavioural changes with patience and reassurance.

This is a long-term Live-in Care role where you will work closely with the client and their family to provide outstanding care that promotes dignity, independence and quality of life.

A secondary overnight carer is in place to monitor the client throughout the night due to an unpredictable sleep pattern. This means you will not be solely responsible for overnight monitoring, providing additional support within the care package.

Your Responsibilities

As a Live-in Carer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing personal care with dignity and respect
  • Supporting with medication
  • Preparing meals and encouraging good nutrition
  • Light household duties
  • Providing companionship and emotional support
  • Encouraging independence and meaningful daily activities
  • Supporting established routines and providing reassurance
  • Maintaining accurate care records
  • Working closely with the client's family and the wider Radfield team

Working Pattern

  • 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
  • You will reside in the client's home whilst on shift.

Daily Breaks

The client's family will provide support during your daily breaks, allowing you to take uninterrupted time away from your caring responsibilities.

As this is a live-in role within the client's home, carers are encouraged to make the most of their breaks by leaving the property where reasonably practicable to rest, recharge or attend to personal errands.

Applicants should therefore be comfortable spending their breaks away from the client's home as part of the agreed care arrangement.

Driving Licence

A Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle are preferred but not essential for this role.

Driving is not required as part of your duties and you will not be expected to transport the client. However, having your own transport may make it easier to make the most of your daily breaks.

Essential Requirements

Please only apply if you meet all of the following requirements:

  • Female applicant due to the client's personal care needs
  • Right to work in the UK (we do not offer visa sponsorship)
  • Non-smoker
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Able to commit to a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off live-in rota
  • Previous experience supporting clients living with Dementia
  • Good understanding of Dementia, including managing unpredictability, disengagement and behavioural changes

Why Join This Role?

Unlike many Live-in Care positions, this package offers:

  • A long-term, stable placement
  • One-to-one relationship-led care
  • A supportive family who are actively involved
  • A secondary overnight carer already in place
  • Excellent support from our experienced office team
  • The opportunity to genuinely make a difference every day
