Financial Management Trainee

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust

Are you a finance leader of the future?

This is a fantastic opportunity to begin or develop your career in NHS Finance. This role is less about your experience to date and more about your potential to become a senior leader in NHS finance. It offers an excellent opportunity to learn and develop across different areas of finance in a busy NHS team.

You will be supported by both a training manager and individual placement managers as you move across Financial Management, Financial Accounts and Income, Costing and Planning, gaining valuable skills and experience as you move.

We will support your development throughout the programme. You will have a full study package for a professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) along with time off to study.

We are seeking individuals with enthusiasm, curiosity, new ideas, and strong values that align with the Trust's, who put patients first and understand the importance of the Finance function in supporting patient care.

Role

This is a rotational role where you will be able to work across all the main areas of the Finance function, including:

  • Management accounting placement (approximately 12 months). This will cover assisting the management accounting team in variance analysis and month end procedures including journals and accruals. Involvement in budget setting, forecasting and costing will be required.
  • Income, planning and costing placement (approximately 6 months). The post holder will assist with income analysis and the annual national cost collection exercise, as well as providing support through the contract round, planning and in tariff development.
  • Financial accounting placement (approximately 6 months). The post holder will work in at least one of either Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable to obtain transactional financial services experience.
  • Other Areas. The post holder will also have the opportunity to work in another area of finance, such systems, capital and value improvement

It is expected that by the end of it he or she will have achieved part

qualified status.

It is expected that the post holder will progress into a part-qualified role after 24 months.

The post holder will have a member of the senior finance team as their training manager throughout the two years and line managers will rotate as they change placements.
