Job Overview

The Post holder will provide highly specialised clinical expertise, leadership and professional advice to clinical staff within Critical

Care at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

The post holder will work collaboratively with other health care professionals and disciplines and provide a leadership and

consultancy function as required.

The Post holder will help to promote and co-ordinate a seamless pathway of care. Central to this role is a collaborative approach

with the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive patient focused service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical leadership for nursing within the Critical Care Directorate to meet the corporate agenda for Nursing,

supporting the Clinical Director and Directorate Manager in service development, operational management and clinical

governance for the team

  • Provide clinical leadership for the continuous professional development of the nursing staff within the Directorate
  • Operationally line manage all nurses within Critical Care, Outreach and Transfer Practitioner services.
  • Be responsible for the nursing budgets within Critical Care, Outreach and Transfer Practitioners.
  • Contribute to the provision of healthcare to the Health Board’s population, managing, developing and directing the nursing

and clinical workforce within the team ensuring safe, clinically effective, high-quality care is delivered to patients by

competent professionals.

  • Work to develop new models of service delivery in line with ABUHB policies and strategic direction.

Essential criteria

  • Clinically credible experience as band 7 in Critical Care
  • Evidence of clinical leadership experience
  • Evidence of leading QPS agenda

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of leadership qualification
  • Welsh Language skills

Managerial

  • Successful management of change and service modernisation
  • Experience of managing budgets
