Role Description
This is a contract, on-site Security Guard role based in York. The Security Guard will be responsible for safeguarding people, property, and premises through regular patrols, monitoring access points, and controlling entry to authorised areas. Daily tasks include observing and reporting suspicious activity, responding to alarms and incidents, supporting crowd management where required, and completing accurate incident and shift reports. The role involves providing a visible security presence, assisting visitors and staff, enforcing site rules and safety procedures, and working closely with supervisors and control room staff to maintain a secure environment. The Security Guard will be expected to follow company protocols, comply with legal and regulatory requirements, and use any assigned security technology or communication equipment effectively.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service abilities to interact professionally with visitors, clients, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated experience in physical security, including patrolling, access control, and incident response.
- Knowledge of personnel security and private security practices, with an understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
- Valid SIA licence and familiarity with UK security regulations and industry standards.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, assess risks quickly, and make sound decisions in emergencies.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and liaison with team members and stakeholders.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work shifts, weekends, and evenings as required by the contract.
- Basic IT literacy and readiness to use security technology such as body-worn cameras, radios, and incident management systems.
