Children's Residential Senior Support Worker

Location: Preston, PR2

Salary: Up to £37,154.00 per annum

Hours: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours/week)

Shift Pattern: Flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and an average of two sleep-ins per week (included in salary)

Sleep-In Rate: £55 per sleep-in (included in total salary package)

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you’ll play a key leadership role within one of our therapeutic homes, helping to shape a safe, nurturing environment where children can begin to heal and thrive.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading by Example: Supporting the team in delivering high-quality, person-centred care
  • Day-to-Day Support: Assisting children with routines such as personal care, meals, and activities
  • Mentoring Staff: Guiding junior team members, sharing knowledge, and supporting development
  • Emotional and Behavioural Support: Helping children regulate emotions and manage challenges
  • Promoting Learning: Supporting education, skill-building, and personal growth
  • Maintaining Records: Ensuring accurate documentation and contributing to care planning
  • Creating a Safe Home: Helping maintain a positive, safe, and structured environment

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals who are:

Experienced: Skilled in residential childcare and confident in a leadership role

  • Caring and Compassionate: Genuinely motivated to help young people heal and grow
  • Resilient and Reliable: Able to manage emotional challenges with professionalism
  • Team-Focused: Collaborative, supportive, and able to work positively with others
  • Organised and Proactive: Able to lead shifts and delegate tasks when needed
  • Flexible: Willing to work evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts

What We Require

  • Level 3 Diploma (or equivalent) in Children & Young People
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Previous experience working in a residential childcare setting
