Airmatic Ltd is a specialist in industrial ventilation, dust extraction and Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems. We work with manufacturers and industrial businesses across the UK, designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining extraction systems that help customers remain compliant, improve workplace safety and protect employee health.
We are looking for an experienced LEV Project Engineer to join our team and take ownership of projects from initial survey through to successful completion and handover.
The Role
As an LEV Project Engineer, you will manage a variety of industrial ventilation and dust extraction projects across the UK. Working closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and our internal engineering team, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with relevant legislation and industry guidance.
This is a varied role combining engineering, project management, technical design and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage LEV and industrial ventilation projects from enquiry through to final handover.
- Plan and coordinate project activities, ensuring deadlines and budgets are achieved.
- Manage subcontractors, installers and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend project meetings and provide regular updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Identify project risks and implement practical solutions to maintain progress.
Surveys & Design
- Conduct detailed site surveys and assessments.
- Produce technical specifications and system designs for LEV and extraction systems.
- Prepare layouts and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD.
- Design and specify hoods, ductwork, fans, filters, extraction units, silencers and control systems.
- Ensure systems are designed to meet customer requirements and industry best practice.
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Source and procure materials, equipment and subcontract services.
- Obtain quotations and manage supplier relationships.
- Monitor project costs and assist with budget control.
- Coordinate deliveries to ensure projects run efficiently.
Commissioning & Handover
- Coordinate commissioning activities and arrange LEV testing with Airmatic's LEV Service Engineer.
- Review commissioning and testing results and manage any remedial actions.
- Operation & Maintenance Manuals
- Maintenance schedules
- Certificates and compliance documentation
- Ensure a professional and complete handover to the client.
Compliance & Technical Support

- Relevant standards
- Health & Safety requirements
- Provide technical guidance to clients regarding LEV performance and compliance.
- Investigate system issues and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Support customers with ongoing improvement opportunities and system upgrades.
Essential Requirements
- HNC/HND, Degree in Mechanical, Environmental or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience within LEV, dust extraction, industrial ventilation or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of LEV principles and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience producing Operation & Maintenance Manuals and technical documentation.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and client-facing abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel nationwide and occasionally stay overnight when required.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- BOHS P602 qualification.
- Experience in general ventilation and HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of fabrication and ductwork manufacturing processes.
- Previous experience managing installation teams or subcontractors.
- Familiarity with industrial manufacturing environments.

Location
The role is primarily home-based with regular travel to customer sites throughout the UK. Candidates located in the North of England or Midlands would be ideally placed due to the geographical spread of our projects. Office base is also welcome (bl8)
