New Product Development (NPD) Technologist

As our New Product Development (NPD) Technologist, you'll deliver new product development and innovation support to the food and drink manufacturing sector in Wales via Welsh Government funded projects and the wider UK food and drink industry through other projects delivered by ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre mechanisms. You'll have the opportunity to transfer knowledge to the ZERO2FIVE technical team, food and drink manufacturers and wider stakeholders. You’ll lead the way by: Being responsible for delivering and disseminating applicable New Product Development and best practice knowledge to a wide range of food and drink manufacturing businesses. Identifying key new product development shortfalls in industrial partners’ operations through gap analyses and internal audits. Implementing a rigorous and robust project delivery mechanism (from project enquiry to project closure) for all New Product Development projects delivered by ZERO2FIVE. Undertaking organoleptic evaluation, nutritional analysis, shelf-life determination and benchmarking of products in accordance with agreed protocols for partner companies and commercial clients. What you’ll bring With a supportive and proactive attitude, and an adaptive approach to working with businesses of all sizes, you'll be a team player and professionally contribute to the successful management and delivery of projects to timescale. You will bring experience of working within NPD and keep yourself up to date with key trends in innovation in the food and drink manufacturing sector. Your attention to detail and project management skills will be applied to all areas of the role. Additionally, you'll: Be organised and able to manage multiple client projects concurrently each with bespoke project needs, outputs and timescales. Be willing to support the delivery of workshops, training and mentoring using various delivery mechanisms to a range of learners. Hold a degree in a relevant Science discipline i.e. Food Science and have worked in at least 2 product categories in NPD or related areas. Why join Cardiff Metropolitan University?
