Your role

You will play an important supporting role within the Traffic and Transportation team, working closely with more senior engineers to deal with requests and deliver schemes. We want you to:

  • Create robust design solutions which meet with defined objectives and constraints.
  • Prepare and check feasibility studies, appraisal / assessment reports and other written documents.
  • Develop engineering solutions and present engineering options.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team with Councillors/contractors/Public.
  • Compile technical drawings using AutoCAD and associated packages.
  • Support and implement the Traffic Management and Road Safety policies and strategies of Salford City Council.
  • Liaise with a wide range of audiences to resolve basic queries in a quick and efficient manner both orally and in writing.
  • Keep the needs of Elected Members and the public in mind, providing a positive customer experience.

Your profile

  • Intermediate/Advanced AutoCAD experience.
  • Intermediate/Advanced MS Office skills, especially MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Strong technical skills relating to the design of Traffic Management and Road Safety schemes.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience in Traffic and Road Safety methods.
  • Sound working knowledge of creating and critically reviewing scheme documentation.
  • Applied knowledge of quality, safety and environmental processes.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence.
