We are currently looking for Buyer to join our team at our support center office in Darlington DL1 4WD - Working Monday to Friday 40 hours a week in this permanent role

  • £30,000 to £34,000 annual salary dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Category Support & Spend Review

  • Take ownership of defined FM categories, including selected M&E goods and services
  • Review current and forecast spend across assigned categories
  • Identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improved value
  • Support stakeholder discussions to understand operational requirements and demand

Supplier Review & Development

  • Review existing suppliers on the Preferred Supplier List (PSL) for performance, suitability and coverage
  • Support rationalisation and improvement of the supplier base
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating new suppliers
  • Support supplier onboarding in line with procurement governance

Sourcing & Market Engagement

  • Support RFQs, pricing exercises and tender activity
  • Collate and compare supplier quotations and proposals
  • Assist with benchmarking and basic market analysis
  • Help assess supplier capability, pricing structures and service offerings

Cost Analysis & Value Delivery

  • Support cost analysis activity across FM and M&E categories
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving and cost-control opportunities
  • Help maintain pricing consistency across suppliers and contracts
  • Contribute to savings tracking and reporting

Frameworks & Supplier Agreements

  • Support the implementation and use of supplier frameworks
  • Assist in maintaining structured pricing and service agreements
  • Help track rebate arrangements where applicable
  • Support contract documentation and agreement control

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure procurement activity follows internal policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of sourcing activity, approvals and supplier data
  • Support compliance and due diligence checks for suppliers
  • Assist in maintaining procurement system accuracy

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with operational and FM teams to support day-to-day requirements
  • Provide guidance on approved suppliers and procurement routes
  • Support consistent and compliant procurement practices across the business

Person Specification

Experience

  • Experience in a Buyer, Junior Buyer or Procurement Support role required
  • Exposure to FM services or M&E supply chains is beneficial
  • Ideally, you will hold or be working towards a CIPS qualification and have experience using MRP/ERP systems, although these are beneficial but not essential.

  • Confident communication skills with suppliers and internal stakeholders
