The Role

The purpose of this senior role is to provide authoritative functional leadership and strategic direction for the University’s international student recruitment activity, acting as the principal deputy to the Director of UoP Global and exercising delegated responsibility for defined areas of recruitment strategy and delivery.

The postholder plays a central role in shaping, implementing, and reviewing medium - to long-term international recruitment priorities, translating University-level strategy into integrated global recruitment and marketing plans. Operating with substantial autonomy, the role leads complex initiatives within an agreed strategic framework, sets functional objectives and performance measures across recruitment and marketing, and provides expert insight through the interpretation of international market intelligence and admissions data, to inform planning, prioritisation, and risk mitigation.

The role requires a high degree of independent judgement and initiative in leading diverse teams, managing significant resources, and resolving complex operational and strategic challenges within dynamic international environments. Acting as deputy to the Director as required, the postholder influences policy and practice within global recruitment, contributes to planning, and represents the University in senior-level internal and external forums. Through this leadership, the role ensures coherence, impact, and continuous improvement across Global Admissions, and international recruitment operations, supporting institutional objectives and strengthening the University’s global profile.

Whilst there is a requirement to be in Portsmouth a few days each week, hybrid working is available for this role. However, the successful candidate will be expected to work on campus full-time during the initial onboarding period, after which hybrid working arrangements can be discussed.

The interviews are currently anticipated to be held on 19 August 2026.
