Trust SHO in General Surgery

We are looking to appoint 1.0 WTE motivated and enthusiastic Trust Junior Doctor (equivalent to FY2 level) for the dynamic and forward-thinking Department of General Surgery. The department provides a full range of general surgical treatments, including participation in an on-call rota covering long days, weekends, and night duty shifts.

As part of the role, you will provide support to inpatient wards and outpatient services, as well as have the opportunity to observe surgical cases in main theatres and day surgery.

You will be required to work a regular shift pattern, including nights, with an average of 40 hours per week.

The department is committed to excellence in teaching and training for junior doctors, and previous post holders have gone on to achieve a National Training Number in General Surgery.

Senior SHO – General Surgery

The department comprises of eight consultant surgeons with a primary focus on Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) and General Surgery. The successful candidate will work closely with a dynamic and progressive General Surgery/UGI team, gaining valuable clinical experience in a high-volume setting.

Ealing Hospital is recognised for its strong surgical service and is proud to perform o ne of the highest volumes of “hot cholecystectomies” in the country, offering excellent exposure to acute surgical care and operative practice.

This post is particularly well suited to candidates who have a minimum of four months’ NHS experience and are looking to further develop their clinical and surgical skills within a supportive training environment.
