Hillcrest Futures is recruiting for Support Workers About the Service
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Hillcrest Futures. Doon Place is a new service which is based in the Pitkerro area of Dundee. Doon Place will provide person centred support for adults living with life changing conditions that include progressive neurological disorders, helping them maintain independence, dignity and quality of life. The individuals will need support to keep their home and themselves safe and secure, while building a positive and fulfilling life.
About the Role
The Support Worker role may involve:
- Supporting individuals with their medication
- Accessing community-based resources
- Daily life skills (menu planning, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping)
- Support to manage finances and money
- Maintaining personal health and hygiene including personal care
- Support with other issues that arise
- Emotional support
- Promotion of positive mental health including coping strategies
About You
- Have a flexible attitude, with an encouraging nature
- Have excellent communication skills including verbal and written
- Be highly organised with the ability to work on own initiative
- Have the ability to react efficiently and effectively in emergency situations
- Be open to attending and maintaining ongoing training needs
- Hold an SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or have the ability to work towards this qualification
- Be Flexible with shifts patterns including weekend work, evenings and sleepovers
- Be required to obtain registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up the post
