About the Role

Reporting to the CVRM assistant Manager, the CVRM Vehicle Cleaner is responsible for executing all internal and external cleaning and basic maintenance tasks on vehicles within the workshop. The successful candidate will ensure all activities are completed to the highest quality standards and within specified operational timelines, contributing directly to vehicle compliance and presentation.

Full training will be provided.

Hours of Work

11:30 – 20:00, Monday – Friday

A high degree of scheduling flexibility is crucial to support operational continuity and contracted workload requirements. This flexibility will include the requirement for scheduled overtime, working weekends, statutory holidays, and potential shifts during anti-social hours

Rate of Pay

£14.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Vehicle Cleaning and Compliance Preparation

  • Execute daily, contract-stipulated body and lift cleaning activities for Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCVs), including the meticulous removal of compacted debris from the lift mechanism, hopper, behind the packer, and sweep blade. This requires safely climbing into the vehicle body.
  • Perform comprehensive chassis cleaning and degreasing to prepare vehicles for mandatory Ministry of Transport (MOT) inspections, ensuring optimal visibility for thorough inspection.
  • Conduct internal cab valeting for vehicles undergoing MOT inspections and as requested by the Workshop Manager, maintaining a professional vehicle appearance. Basic

Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection

  • Perform routine lubrication (greasing) of all specified bearings, pivots, and bushes within the vehicle body and bin-lifting apparatus.
  • Inspect critical components during the cleaning process, including assessing bushes, bearings, and pivots for excessive play, springs for evidence of cracking, and hydraulic lines for bursts or damage.
  • Monitor and top up grease chambers and hydraulic oil levels as required during the cleaning process.
  • Conduct wheel torque checks following every body clean or as otherwise instructed, documenting all results accurately.

Documentation and Workplace Management

  • Maintain accurate and timely records (both paper and digital) of every cleaning and maintenance task carried out, ensuring all documentation is submitted promptly.
  • Uphold a high standard of cleanliness and organization within the workshop facility, ancillary areas, external cleaning stations, and commercial vehicle parking areas.
  • Provide assistance and perform miscellaneous tasks as requested by the Workshop Manager to support overall workshop efficiency and operational needs.

Pay: £14.00 per hour
