Chromalox

Business Development Executive

Composed of Chromalox, Durex Industries, Vulcanic, and Thermocoax businesses, Electrical Thermal Solutions (ETS), part of Spirax Group, creates electrical process heating and temperature management solutions, including industrial heaters and systems, heat tracing, and a range of component technologies.

At Chromalox, we build advanced thermal technologies for the world’s most challenging industrial heating applications.

Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we got our start with an innovative solution 100 years ago when a self-taught engineer invented the first metal-sheathed resistance heating element. It was this then-advanced thermal technology that launched an entire industry.

We excel in industries that have high expectations. We are acknowledged as experts at delivering solutions that exceed specifications, limit risk, and reduce operating costs.

Join us as we continue to provide solutions to our customers and the world!

The Role

Working in direct support of the Business Development Director, the post-holder contributes to commercial growth across our two thermal-solutions brands in high-technology sectors (semiconductor fabrication equipment, nuclear, aerospace & defense). This is a stepping-stone role: the successful candidate will learn the business development trade alongside the Director, taking ownership of the analysis, preparation and coordination work that underpins the BD function, in a resolutely international and multi-channel environment.

Your Responsibilities

Support to the BD Director

  • Prepare the Director's working materials: presentations, briefing notes, opportunity files and meeting minutes.
  • Track actions and deadlines (BD dashboard, initiative tracking, internal follow-ups).
  • Prepare and consolidate the input needed for committees and pipeline reviews.

Market research and analysis

  • Carry out market research to identify opportunities, emerging trends, competitor moves and technological developments.
  • Build and maintain a knowledge base covering target markets, key accounts and the wider ecosystem (direct customers, OEMs, distributors, partners, competitors).
  • Analyse commercial and market data to draw out actionable insights.

Support to the sales organization and channels

  • Contribute to the development of segment and channel playbooks (direct sales, OEM, distribution) and application pitches.
  • Help leverage sales & marketing assets to engage prospects across all channels.
  • Contribute to initiatives that structure and develop the commercial organization (aligning practices across the two brands, rolling out new tools or processes).

Technical coordination and proposals

  • Work with the technical teams to build a sound understanding of our products and thermal solutions.
  • Help prepare client proposals and presentations that showcase the value proposition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (engineering school, scientific/technical university, or a commercially oriented course with a technical bias).
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in sales, business development or a commercial support function — ideally in an industrial or technical environment. A first successful experience is expected; potential and mindset remain decisive.
  • A first exposure to an international environment and the ease to work in a multicultural context.
  • Some early experience of customer relationships through direct sales and/or indirect channels (OEMs, distributors).
  • Comfortable with numbers and a genuine appetite for analysis (Excel, research, synthesis).
  • Strong writing and presentation skills (proficiency in PowerPoint an advantage).
  • Technical curiosity: keen to learn how demanding industrial products work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both internally and externally.
  • Fluent English essential; any additional language is an asset.
  • Rigorous, reliable, able to work independently on delivery, and discreet (the role gives access to sensitive information).
  • Available for occasional travel, both domestic and international.

Preferred

  • An awareness of how commercial organizations work (roles, processes, the interplay between sales, marketing and BD).
  • An interest in, or early exposure to, change management and the structuring of commercial practices.
  • Experience gained in a multi-brand or multi-channel environment.

What the role offers

  • Direct exposure to the commercial strategy of an international division and to its leadership.
  • Accelerated learning of business development in cutting-edge sectors and across the full range of sales channels.
  • A path towards a stand-alone BD role.
