Application Manager

Recruit with Purpose

Want to own and influence a Microsoft estate built for the future?

Shape the way an organisation collaborates, governs information and unlocks value from technology.

I am supporting a forward-thinking Housing Association that are building a modern, cloud-first digital organisation. Having completed a full transition to a SaaS-first, cloud native technology estate, they are now looking for an experienced Applications Manager to take ownership of their Microsoft application landscape and help drive the next phase of their digital transformation journey.

This is a great opportunity to join an organisation with no legacy infrastructure, no on-premise estate and a genuine commitment to innovation. Their digital ecosystem is built on Microsoft 365, Azure, Microsoft Fabric and modern security practices, allowing the team to focus on continuous improvement, user experience and delivering real business value.

As the Applications Manager, you will take end-to-end ownership of key Microsoft platforms, with a particular focus on SharePoint, Microsoft Purview, application governance, lifecycle management, supplier management and application integration.

You will be working closely with digital, data, infrastructure and security teams and act as the subject matter expert for SharePoint and Purview while helping shape the future roadmap of business-critical applications across the organisation.

The role will involve managing and evolving the organisation's Microsoft application portfolio, leading application roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives, and developing modern SharePoint architecture, governance frameworks and standards.

You'll drive the implementation and optimisation of Microsoft Purview capabilities, including retention policies, sensitivity labelling, eDiscovery and compliance functions. Working closely with operational teams, you'll identify opportunities to improve user experiences, service delivery, oversee testing and release management processes, support integration with Microsoft Fabric and wider data initiatives, and act as a trusted advisor on application strategy, investment and technology decisions.

They are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills.

You will have significant experience managing business-critical applications within SaaS and cloud environments, alongside strong hands-on knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft 365. You'll bring experience leading application lifecycle management, upgrades, changes and optimisation programmes, supported by a solid understanding of application architecture, integrations and modern Microsoft technologies. Experience managing third-party suppliers, coordinating testing and release activities, and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities will be essential.

The salary is circa £55,000 with some flexibility and a great benefits package.

It is a hybrid role with 2 days a week in their office based in Liverpool
