Role Description
The Green Space Development Officer is a full-time role responsible for planning, developing, and enhancing public green spaces across the district to support community wellbeing, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability. Working in a hybrid pattern, the role is primarily based in Warwick with some work from home, involving site visits, project meetings, and desk-based planning and reporting. Day-to-day tasks include developing improvement projects for parks and open spaces, liaising with community groups and partners, managing budgets and funding bids, and ensuring compliance with relevant environmental and planning policies. The officer will coordinate consultation activities, gather stakeholder feedback, and use research and data to inform design and management decisions. The role also includes preparing reports and presentations, supporting long-term green space strategies, and contributing to wider council initiatives related to climate, health, and community engagement.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage stakeholders, present proposals clearly, and collaborate across teams.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in philanthropy, fundraising, and annual giving to support green space projects and community initiatives.
- Research skills for assessing community needs, evaluating environmental impacts, and using data to inform green space planning and development.
- Relevant qualification or experience in environmental management, landscape architecture, urban planning, or a related field.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently and in teams, and adapt to hybrid working arrangements.
- Knowledge of local government processes, planning regulations, or public sector practices is beneficial.
