We are looking to hire an Offshore Service Technician on a full time, permanent basis. Based at our facility at Great Yarmouth, the Offshore Service Technician is to provide both on and offshore services on a global basis in the Cutting and Decommissioning Segment. The role holder will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and operating Claxton rental and purchased equipment, both onshore and offshore, in accordance with safety and client expectations.
Duties & Main Responsibilities
- Provision of technical and practical services at offshore/onshore locations inclusive of appropriate project and client support; working alone, or as a crew member.
- Implementing programmes of work and operations procedures whilst adhering to safe systems of work, to include but not limited to, preparing, surveying, deploying, operating, installing, maintaining, rigging up/down, decommissioning and backloading equipment in accordance with project requirements.
- To identify and communicate scope changes, enabling the implementation of a management of change (MoC) and ensuring associated risks are brought to ALARP.
- Check programmes, procedures, drawings, and manuals prior to the operational start-up/job to ensure a full understanding of the project assignment.
- Provide technician support in the workshop, warehouse, or projects’ office to service and prepare equipment as reasonably requested in line with Company standards and procedures/manuals.
- Ensuring the correct tool allocation is in place to assist project loadouts.
- Prepare offshore paperwork/documentation as per worksite or project specific requirements and company procedures.
- Engage in and actively work through company competency system.
- Attend and constructively input into pre and post job meetings as requested.
- Identifying and feeding back opportunities for improvement.
- Attend PSO and any other training when required.
- Communicate in a proactive and professional manner.
- To maximise non-operational time in the field to maintain equipment, check inventories, review project documentation for effectiveness and plan the upcoming work.
- Provision of adequate daily field reporting.
- Remaining cost conscientious with Claxton inventory and consumables.
- Active participation and demonstrable commitment in Claxton’s Competency Programme as required.
- Completion and submission of expenses, service ticket, and any other project documentation/administration within 3 days of demobilisation.
- To inform line management of safe return from/arrival home from each assignment by appropriate means.
- Provide flexibility to mobilise at short notice when required on either short or long-haul jobs.
- To remain reasonably contactable (phone, text, or email within an hour) always whilst not on approved holiday.
- To ensure passport and vaccination statuses are up to date and valid in line with country/business requirements
- Any other relevant work (reasonable requests) as may be assigned by the Management team from time to time.
- Fully comply with the QHSE management system requirements and behaviours and all tasks that you carry out are in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures of which are in line with ISO9001, ISO 45001 & 14001.
Required
- Minimum of GCSE/’O’ Level standard of education
- Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulics & pneumatic systems
- Working to operational manual standards and in-house company procedures effectively.
- Able to work on own initiative or as part of a team
- Proficient (intermediate user) of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Excellent communication skills
- Mechanical knowledge/background
- Problem solving/troubleshooting.
- Offshore certification desired but not essential.
