Location: Roundhay, Leeds

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Oakwood Solicitors is looking to recruit an experienced Costs Draftsman to join our growing Costs Department.

Based in North Leeds, we employ over 90 legal professionals and support staff and pride ourselves on delivering exceptional client service in a supportive and collaborative working environment.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Costs Draftsman to join our team, preparing Bills of Costs across a range of practice areas, with a particular focus on:

  • Personal Injury
  • Industrial Disease
  • Psychiatric Injury
  • Clinical Negligence

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload and be responsible for all aspects of the costs process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting Bills of Costs
  • Preparing Schedules of Costs
  • Drafting Estimates of Costs
  • Preparing Statements of Costs for Summary Assessment
  • Drafting Precedent H budgets
  • Drafting Precedent R documents
  • Managing your own caseload
  • Working with both paper and electronic case files

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of three years' experience in legal costs
  • Experience managing the full costs cycle independently
  • A strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), particularly the costs provisions, Part 7 and Part 8 litigation
  • Experience using Excel and CostMaster to prepare Bills of Costs
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical skills
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills and the ability to work with relevant legal software
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experience using the Proclaim Case Management System would be advantageous but is not essential.
