Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse - Toni & Guy Ward

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Band 6 Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse on Toni and Guy Ward. The ward is a 15 bedded general paediatric ward. We care for children with a variety of conditions, including Cystic Fibrosis, Sickle Cell Disease, Diabetes, Asthma and are a shared care centre for Oncology patients.
You must be a Registered Children’s Nurse with excellent clinical skills, self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to providing high standards of care for all our paediatric patients, their families and carers. The ability to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You should have time-management and clinical organisational skills as you will need to manage a busy Children’s Ward.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining standards and quality in the day-to-day management of the unit. This role will enable you to gain and demonstrate skills in leadership and people management within the clinical environment. Your primary responsibilities will be to regularly take charge of the unit and support and develop junior staff by being a mentor and role model.

- To provide expert, holistic care of a high standard to both the patients and their relatives within the King's College Hospital.
- To take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of or as delegated by the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse/ Head of Department.
- To assist in the leadership and development of an identified group of nurses within the ward complement.
- To act as a clinical resource within the ward and across the Care Group as necessary.
- To act as a positive role model to junior staff members. Particular emphasis is put at Kings on the need to ensure that all staff recognise their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner and to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
