The Education Academy within Barts Health is expanding in response to the need with increasing numbers of students and trainees and commitment to offer the best educational experience for our trainees. There is a real need to ensure that students receive excellent tuition and that trainees have the best possible educational supervision. In line with our Education Strategy, we intend to improve education by building an Education Fellow faculty base made up of Specialty Teaching Fellows who contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate training and support Inter-professional Innovations.
Barts Health Simulation Service has four dedicated Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Centres based at Newham University Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London. Each of these centres has a proud history of being innovative and award winning. These departments are teaching areas with fully equipped simulation and clinical skills teaching and Haptic Clinical Skills facilities.
We are seeking to appoint to work within the TB & Respiratory team. The post would be 0.8wte, 32 hours worked over four days divided 50/50 into clinical service and educational work
The successful post holder for this post will be involved primarily with developing educational opportunities for undergraduate medical students through a wide range of teaching modalities including simulation-based training, clinical skills, lectures, teaching clinics, a bedside teaching. The post holder will have the opportunity to work across sites with other education fellows supporting activity at our other centres and will support the delivery of Simulation based training opportunities to other specialties and support the distributive simulation agenda. The role will also be instrumental in supporting IMT Simulation and Clinical Skills across all sites.
All fellows joining our team will be invited to join our Education Forum where fellows have access to a structured development programme. All our fellows are encouraged to undertake a PG Cert in Education. For those who already have this there will be an opportunity to undertake ILM3 (Leadership & Management Course). Funding will be available towards supporting this.
