About the role

We are looking for a skilled Fire Engineer to join our Asset & Technology Solutions (ATS) team, supporting projects across Scotland. This is a field-based role where you will play a key part in the installation, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems and associated equipment across a diverse portfolio of sites.

Working in line with current codes of practice, manufacturer guidance and relevant British and European Standards, you will ensure systems remain compliant, fully operational and safe. This role offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to work within a collaborative and safety-focused environment, with travel across multiple locations required.

What you'll be doing

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing fire detection and alarm systems in line with industry standards and specifications
  • Carrying out fault finding and ensuring systems are operating efficiently and effectively
  • Completing work safely and in accordance with company policies and health and safety procedures
  • Managing and maintaining accurate records, including digital documentation and reporting
  • Supporting the delivery and collection of equipment and materials, including stock control
  • Following risk assessments and method statements where required
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with site teams, customers and stakeholders
  • Delivering high standards of customer service and representing the business professionally at all times
  • Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions, near misses and safety observations
  • Ensuring company values, behaviours and code of conduct are consistently upheld
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment, including company vehicle
  • Keeping up to date with relevant regulatory standards and industry best practice

Who we're looking for

We’re seeking a proactive and motivated individual with strong technical expertise and a commitment to safety and quality.

Essential

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in fire alarm installation, maintenance and fault finding
  • Strong understanding of current fire safety standards and regulations
  • Relevant trade qualifications within fire systems or a related discipline
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience within the industry
  • Excellent knowledge and application of health and safety practices
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a varied workload
  • Good record keeping and attention to detail
  • A customer-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills

Desirable

  • Experience within the construction industry
  • Previous work within a BAFE accredited environment
  • Relevant site cards (CSCS, ECS, IPAF, PASMA)
  • Knowledge of fire systems such as EMS Firecell, Cygnus or Sitenet
  • Experience with portable extinguishers or related accreditation
  • Additional mechanical or electrical skills

This role involves regular travel across Scotland, with occasional requirements to stay away from home. A company vehicle is provided.
