Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)

About The Role

We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine the next generation of AI systems. Your deep scientific expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex biochemical concepts — from protein folding to metabolic flux analysis. This is a rare opportunity to influence cutting-edge AI research without leaving your home lab.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Challenging Problems — Craft advanced biochemistry problems spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, enzyme kinetics, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
  • Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that guide AI reasoning on high-level scientific tasks
  • Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for scientific accuracy and adherence to established standards
  • Refine AI Reasoning — Identify and document logical errors in AI responses — such as incorrect stoichiometry or flawed stereochemical reasoning — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance

Who You Are

  • Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline
  • Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or related areas
  • Clear Communicator: Able to articulate complex biological and chemical concepts precisely and concisely in written form
  • Detail-Oriented: High level of precision when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
  • No prior AI experience required — we'll onboard you fully

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review
  • Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
  • Background in bioinformatics or cheminformatics

Why Join Us

  • Work on some of the most intellectually stimulating AI research projects in the world
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your schedule, at your own pace
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global team of experts
  • Contribute to meaningful work that shapes how AI handles real scientific knowledge
