250283 Specialist Clinical Pharmacist - Medicines Utilisation/Biologics

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated pharmacist to join our small team focussing on medicines utilisation and the supply of specialist, hospital-only medicines across Dumfries & Galloway. The post holder will provide specialist clinical pharmacy services and advice to patients prescribed, and clinicians prescribing biologic medicines.
The post holder will have a generalist understanding of specialities including rheumatology, gastroenterology, dermatology and neurology and will be expected to develop a more in-depth knowledge in one or more of these. The role has a focus on supporting clinical teams to provide a clinically effective and cost efficient service, and will be encouraged to generate new ideas to support delivery of this.
The post holder will be supported by the senior medicines utilisation pharmacist and will provide clinical expertise to the pharmacy homecare team. The post holder should be a pharmacist independent prescriber or will be working towards this. They will be encouraged to integrate into multidisciplinary teams with the opportunity to introduce pharmacist clinics and champion the role of pharmacist prescribers in biologics.
The post holder will be based in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, based in beautiful south west Scotland with easy access to the Scottish central belt, Northern Ireland and Northern England. The health board is one of the Scottish remote and rural boards and will suit someone who enjoys the great outdoors, coast and countryside.
The hospital was opened in 2017 and pharmacy benefits from electronic prescribing and robotics and has a forward thinking team who will be ready to support you in a new role.
The post is for 21.6 hours per week and work pattern is open to discussion on appointment based on the needs of the service. The post holder will be required to take part in the provision of general clinical, dispensary, weekend and on-call services as required.
