Children's Nurse
University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
We have Band 5 positions for experienced nurses in our Children's Short Stay Unit (CSSU).
We are looking to recruit dynamic children's nurses to join our friendly and talented team who strive to deliver high quality care to patients presenting with a broad spectrum of conditions.
This is a rewarding yet demanding role that requires dedication, and a genuine passion for providing excellent care to children and their families/carers.
Our excellent education programme gives you on-going development and support. You can develop all of the core skills and take the opportunity to broaden your nursing experience. We have a dedicated Children's Educator who will work alongside you in the department and support you in your development. We offer many training opportunities delivered in house and also university and national courses. The educational team also deliver weekly MDT simulations within the department and our training pod.
We welcome applicants from experienced children's nurses and they must posses a current UK NMC registration.
CSSU is a 12 bedded unit which accepts admissions from the Children's Emergency Department (ED) 24/7 for up to 24 hours of stay. The unit cares for children and young persons age 0-17 years presenting acutely unwell with a range of illness, injury and mental health concerns.
CSSU is co-located within Children's ED and the MDT work collaboratively between the two areas to deliver high quality care.
Main responsibilities include to provide safe, high quality patient centred care to children & families.
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We Have Four Primary Goals
- high-quality care for all,
- being a great place to work,
- partnerships for impact, and
- research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
- we are compassionate,
- we are proud,
- we are inclusive, and
- we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
