Role: Therapeutic Residential Worker

Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications), plus additional Sleep-in allowance of £50 per shift.

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Full Time 37 hours a week. Variety of Shift patterns including waking nights.

A bit about the role

As a Therapeutic Residential Worker, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing and structured home for children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

You'll build positive, trusting relationships, providing constant day-to-day support, and help young people develop in confidence, resilience and independence. Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll use therapeutic approaches to understand behaviours, support emotional well-being and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small.

This role is ideal for someone who understands the rewards and challenges of supporting children and young people in a residential setting. You'll be calm under pressure, able to build meaningful relationships, and committed to helping every child feel safe, valued and able to thrive.

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:

  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
  • Experience of working in a residential care setting and developing positive relationships through trust.
  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families.
  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting.
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.

About the service

Our home provides a warm, welcoming and nurturing family environment for up to four children aged 7-18 who have experienced complex trauma and emotional or behavioural difficulties.

We believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued and a true sense of belonging. By keeping our home small, we're able to build strong, trusting relationships and provide the individual care and support each child needs to thrive.
