An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Haematology/Oncology/Medical Daycase Unit at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Children’s Nurse to become part of our dedicated multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, family-centred care to children and young people.

About The Role

This post is suitable for an experienced Staff Nurse who has successfully completed an accredited Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) course in Children and Young People and is competent in the administration of chemotherapy.

You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for children with complex haematological, oncological and medical conditions, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice are maintained.

The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly across Monday to Sunday, including day and night shifts.

About The Unit

The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital is one of only three specialist paediatric hospitals in Scotland, providing care in a modern, purpose-built environment.

The Haematology/Oncology/Medical Daycase Unit is a busy and diverse area caring for patients from birth to approximately 16 years of age. There are 7 inpatient cubicles for children with haematological and oncological diagnoses, and a 6-bedded daycase bay delivering treatments for a variety of medical conditions

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Be a Registered Children’s Nurse with relevant experience
  • Demonstrate competence in chemotherapy administration
  • Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Be committed to delivering safe, effective and compassionate care
  • Show evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Be flexible and able to work a full rotational shift pattern including days, nights and weekends

This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role within a supportive team environment.
