Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia

Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

We are recruiting for a specialty doctor in Anaesthesia to support the Ashford Elective Centre, St Peter’s Hospital emergency surgery and St. Peter’s on call rota. The post is aimed at General Anaesthetists with an interest in Orthopaedic surgery.

Our aim is to provide a high-quality patient experience and an excellent place to work for all staff. We believe that the key to improved patient and staff experience is a high quality, efficient and patient-centered pathway, in which the patient sees the ‘right doctor, first time’. We are welcoming applications from candidates interested in full or part-time working. We’d love to meet you for an informal visit. Please feel free to contact us to arrange a visit or for an informal chat about the post.

Daytime clinical sessions will be working cross site but predominantly based at the Ashford Elective Hub. Working will be flexible, but at least one list per week will be with a consultant for teaching and training purposes. The department will encourage the development of sub-specialty interests.

Resident 1:8 on call including 1:8 weekends on a full shift EWTD compliant rota, rotating between obstetrics, ITU and theatres. The total sessional commitment will be 12, with 1 PA for pre & post operative assessment.

Compliance with the European directive on working hours will be observed

As a rolling rota is in operation the number of clinical daytime sessions per week will vary and will involve, on a rotating basis, sessions in the operating theatres, intensive care and obstetrics, whenever possible with a Consultant.

All operating lists undertaken by the Specialty Doctors have a nominated Consultant Anaesthetist with clinical responsibility and this is clearly identified on the weekly rota.

Ashford and St. Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of more than 410,000 people living in North-West Surrey, parts of Hounslow and beyond.

Over 3,700 highly trained doctors, nurses, midwives, therapists, healthcare scientists and other support staff make up our workforce, providing a wide range of services across our two hospital sites, Ashford, Surrey and St Peter's, Chertsey, Surrey.

We also run many specialist clinics in the community and local community hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Our vision is to be one of the best healthcare Trusts in the country. There has never been a better time to join us in the NHS at ASPH. We are committed to providing continuous professional development, staff benefits and flexibility to shape our workforce around our patient care.

This is an exciting time to join our Trust, as we work on the expansion of our theatres at Ashford Hospital and move towards this becoming our dedicated elective centre. We want to create a state-of-the-art centre for excellence for planned surgical procedures; with care delivered by dedicated, specialist teams in a modern and well-equipped environment.

We hope to use this centre to create an environment of learning and to facilitate training of the next generation of our skilled NHS workforce. Our plans are ambitious - why not, come and be a part of our journey.

Adverts may close early, so applicants are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.
