Help us keep a brilliant school looking brilliant.

Every great school needs great teachers, strong leaders and, frankly, people who make sure the building does not look like 900 children have marched through it with toast crumbs, PE kits and questionable decision-making. That’s where you come in.

King’s Leadership Academy Wavertree is looking for a reliable, hardworking and detail-loving Cleaner to help keep our new and growing academy safe, clean, calm and welcoming for students, staff, families and visitors. This is an important role. Not “nice to have”. Not “in the background”. Important. The environment our students learn in matters, and clean classrooms, fresh corridors, tidy offices and well-kept communal spaces all help create the kind of school where children can thrive.

The role is term time only, plus 15 additional days during school closure periods. For those new to education, this means you mainly work when the school is open, with some agreed additional cleaning days during the holidays to help us keep the academy in excellent condition.

Your paid holiday entitlement, including bank holidays, is included within the school closure periods and must be taken outside of term time. In other words, you get a clear working pattern, school-holiday rhythm.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll help clean classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets and communal areas. This will include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitising surfaces, emptying bins, replenishing supplies and supporting deeper cleaning during holiday periods. You’ll also help us spot and report any hazards, maintenance issues or repairs needed around the academy.

We’re looking for someone who is

  • Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
  • Proud of doing a job properly
  • Able to work independently and manage time well
  • Flexible, practical and willing to help where needed
  • Confident using cleaning equipment and materials safely
  • Aware of health and safety, including COSHH
  • Professional, discreet and committed to safeguarding children
  • Positive, calm and happy to be part of a hardworking site team

Previous cleaning experience in a school, office, healthcare or commercial setting would be ideal. Basic cleaning or health and safety training would be helpful too, but what matters most is pride, reliability and common sense.
