ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.
About the Role
Based in our Employability Services team, you will play a key role in helping students and recent graduates successfully navigate the transition from university to their future careers. Working with priority groups, including final-year students, recent graduates and Access and Participation Plan (APP) cohorts, you will support the delivery of targeted careers initiatives, employability programmes and engagement activities that improve progression and graduate outcomes. You will also support the front-line operations of the Service and contribute towards providing a welcoming first point of contact for students and stakeholders. You will deliver first-line careers information and employability advice, support events and mentoring schemes, and contribute to the creation of engaging digital and social media content that promotes opportunities and services across the University. The role will be on campus at least 80% of the week.
With a degree, a relevant professional qualification at degree level, or substantial relevant experience supported by evidence of continuing professional development, you will be a proactive and customer-focused individual with experience of supporting programmes, activities or events in a student support, employability, engagement or similar environment. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, confidence in building effective relationships with students, colleagues and external stakeholders, and be able to provide a high standard of customer service. Knowledge of the challenges faced by students and graduates as they progress into employment or further study would be advantageous. Most importantly, you will be committed to delivering an inclusive, supportive and outstanding experience that helps students achieve their ambitions and reach their potential.
