Directorate: Corporate Services Permanent, Part time, 18.5 hours per week

We are looking to recruit a Revenue, Benefit and Payment Officer to join our busy Revenue and Payments Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, professional environment and wants to play a key role in supporting effective service delivery for adults who require social care.

About the role

Direct Payments are a key element of Adult Social Care, enabling individuals to have choice, control, and flexibility over how their care and support is delivered. As part of the team, you will help ensure that individuals receive timely payments so they can arrange care with providers of their choice.

This role sits within the Direct Payment Team and plays a vital role in ensuring that all Direct Payments funded by the Council (and relevant health partners) are established, managed, and monitored in line with legal and regulatory frameworks.

What you will be doing

  • Checking and processing Direct Payment agreements, ensure accurate and timely payments are made in line with statutory and local requirements.
  • Managing and amend existing Direct Payments, ensuring changes are processed and payments are ended when no longer required
  • Understanding and interpreting legislation including the Care Act 2014, Health Direct Payment Regulations, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and HMRC employer, tax and statutory pension requirements.
  • Providing clear, accessible information and guidance to Direct Payment recipients, carers, families and social care practitioners.
  • Delivering high standards of customer service.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records in line with statutory and local requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Managing a varied caseload effectively while meeting deadlines.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience of Direct Payments within a social care or similar setting (desirable).
  • Knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance relating to charging for care services and Direct Payment Employment (desirable).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with confidence interpreting financial information.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and professionally with people who receive social care.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Why join us?

If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment, embrace change, and enjoy adapting to new challenges, this is a rewarding opportunity to join our supportive and experienced Revenue and Payments Team.

In return, we offer:

  • Comprehensive mentoring and training from experienced colleagues.
  • A strong, collaborative team with regular team meetings and peer support.
  • Hybrid working arrangements, supporting flexibility and work‑life balance.
