Vale View Primary School has a vacancy for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in our Early Years Foundation Stage. We are looking for a highly effective and enthusiastic person who will work with our Reception teachers to provide teaching and learning support across the whole cohort and work with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a primary school and delivering teaching and learning to children with a range of special educational needs, covering classes, and hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification and GCSE English and maths (or equivalent). You will work with our caring and dedicated team to support children’s learning and social development by providing high quality learning opportunities and care. Knowledge of and a willingness to use Makaton in daily teaching is advantageous.

You will be an excellent classroom practitioner

You will have a good working knowledge of the Early Years Framework and the National Curriculum

You will have high expectations, excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to establish positive adult-pupil relationships

You will have a sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and have experience of working to support children who have a range of special educational needs

You will have excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills

You will be committed, motivated, and enthusiastic

You will enjoy working as part of a team and can be flexible

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in partnership with parents, staff and outside agencies

You will have a sound knowledge of safeguarding
