About The Role
Managing Quantity Surveyor – A66 Project
Location: Warrington or Penrith | Hybrid (3 days office-based) | Open to candidates willing to work away from home up to 3 days per week
Join a flagship infrastructure scheme upgrading the A66 between Penrith and Scotch Corner to dual carriageway — improving safety, reducing congestion, and strengthening regional connectivity across the North.
What you'll be doing
As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll lead the commercial function on a major civils project, driving cost, risk and performance from pre-contract through to final account, while supporting smaller schemes where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial delivery, ensuring robust governance and driving LEAN/digital practices
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risk
- Manage subcontractors and supply chain performance
- Oversee cost planning, forecasting and CVR reporting
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Lead procurement and negotiation of complex subcontract packages
- Support team development and recruitment
Who we're looking for
About You
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
- RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)
- CSCS (Professionally Qualified Person)
- Strong commercial management and cost reporting capability
- Experience delivering CVR on projects up to £100m
- Currently operating at Managing QS or Senior QS level
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
- Highways experience desirable
