Job Title: Capital Projects Manager (Construction)
Location: Billingham - UK
We’re looking for an experienced Capital Projects Manager to take end-to-end ownership of multiple site capital projects, ensuring delivery to the highest standards of safety, quality, schedule, and cost. Reporting to the Capital Projects Group Manager / Senior Project Manager, you’ll lead project governance, stakeholder engagement, risk management, procurement, validation and commissioning, and compliance through the full lifecycle.
What you’ll do
- Own delivery of capital projects to baseline scope, schedule, budget and quality KPIs
- Proactively manage, forecast and report project costs; contribute to monthly cost reports and Tier updates
- Lead regular project progress meetings with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders
- Manage the project risk register and mitigation plans; escalate safety, budget, schedule and quality risks
- Oversee tender strategy and execution (for projects >£10k) with Procurement; evaluate bids and select vendors with SMEs
- Ensure compliance with all site procedures, quality standards and capital project processes
- Lead validation and commissioning planning and execution with appropriate resources
- Manage project communications across site operations, partners and third parties
- Drive closure of actions from HAZOP, HAZID, Safety Reviews and TQs without impacting schedule
What you’ll bring
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Proven track record delivering capital projects in a regulated environment (biotech, pharma, chemicals, FMCG or similar)
- Strong cost control, forecasting and schedule management skills across full project lifecycle
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; able to chair multi-disciplinary meetings
- Robust understanding of CDM Regulations and duty holder responsibilities
- Experience with validation and commissioning in GMP or similarly regulated settings
- Competence in procurement, tendering, vendor evaluation and contract administration (NEC/JCT exposure desirable)
- Ability to manage scope, change control, risk registers and project governance
