Boothroyd Primary Academy is a rapidly improving school serving over 600 pupils from the local Dewsbury community. We are looking for enthusiastic people who enjoy working with children, to ensure the smooth running of our lunchtime provision.

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Lunchtime Supervisor to join our friendly primary school team. This is a rewarding role where you will help ensure our children enjoy a safe, happy and positive lunchtime experience. The successful candidate will supervise pupils in the dining hall and the playground and will also be regularly involved in providing support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Main Responsibilities

  • Supervising children in the dining room: promoting good manners and positive behaviour.
  • Assisting younger pupils where necessary during mealtimes.
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all pupils throughout the lunchtime period.
  • Supervising children during outdoor play and encouraging positive, inclusive play experiences.
  • Supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Helping pupils to develop social skills, independence and confidence.
  • Managing minor incidents and reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff.
  • Following school safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies at all times.

The ability to relate to children/young people from diverse backgrounds is essential for this job, as well as having good verbal communication skills in order to liaise with children/young people and other staff members.

  • Enjoys working with children and can build positive relationships.
  • Is patient, caring and supportive, particularly when working with children with additional needs.
  • Has good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Can remain calm, organised and professional in a busy environment.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Has experience of working with children (desirable but not essential).
