Job Overview
Onshore Technical is supporting a new client within the gas distribution sector who is looking to appoint an experienced SHEQ Manager.
The client is a gas mains replacement contractor delivering Repex works for SGN, and they are looking for someone who can take ownership of SHEQ performance across the business.
This role is available on either a permanent or contract basis and would suit a driven SHEQ professional who is looking to progress their career as the business grows.
The Role
As SHEQ Manager, you will be responsible for managing SHEQ performance across the business and ensuring operations are delivered safely, compliantly and in line with client, regulatory and internal standards.
You will take control of SHEQ performance meetings with the management team, clients and supply chain, while supporting continuous improvement across live gas mains replacement works.
The successful candidate will be progressive, proactive and prepared to challenge operational teams constructively where required. Attitude is key for this role, and the client is looking for someone who is driven, confident and capable of implementing new ideas and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage SHEQ performance across the business
- Ensure compliance across health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
- Lead SHEQ performance meetings with management teams, clients and supply chain
- Support operational teams across live Repex and gas mains replacement works
- Implement new ideas, initiatives and improvement measures
- Challenge operational teams constructively where required
- Drive a proactive safety and compliance culture
- Support business growth through strong SHEQ leadership
- Review and improve SHEQ systems, processes and reporting
- Monitor performance and support continuous improvement
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
- Promote high standards of health, safety, environment and quality across all works
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH qualification
- SHEQ experience within utilities, gas, civils or infrastructure
- Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance
- Confident leading meetings with management teams, clients and supply chain
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to challenge operational teams in a constructive and professional way
- Proactive mindset with the ability to implement improvements
- Driven attitude and desire to grow with the business
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Requirements
- Gas mains replacement / Repex experience
- Experience working on SGN or similar gas distribution frameworks
- Experience within gas distribution, utilities or civil engineering environments
- Auditing experience
- Knowledge of ISO standards
- Experience managing SHEQ performance across multiple sites or teams
