We are seeking to recruit a Transport Accessibility Officer to join our Blue Badge and Concessionary Travel Team on a 12 month fixed-term basis. Parking Services is one of the Council’s most visible and high-profile services, playing a vital role in shaping the Council’s overall reputation. Delivering a consistently high standard of service is essential, as it directly impacts customer experience and satisfaction across the city.
The Role
As a Transport Accessibility Officer, you will be responsible for assessing applications for Blue Badges and Concessionary Travel bus passes. This is a rewarding role where you will help ensure that eligible residents can access essential support that improves their independence and mobility.

The team processes applications for disabled and older residents, ensuring that all decisions are made in line with Department for Transport guidance. What you’ll be doing
As a Transport Accessibility Officer, you will assess applications for Blue Badges and Concessionary Travel bus passes, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent, and in line with Department for Transport guidance.
In this role, you will:
- Review applications and supporting evidence to determine eligibility
- Make clear, evidence-based decisions that are consistent, transparent, and inclusive
- Contact applicants, carers, and professionals where further information is needed
- Communicate decisions sensitively and clearly, adapting your approach to meet individual communication needs
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality, accessible service
Your work will directly support a diverse range of residents, ensuring people with different needs, backgrounds, and circumstances can access services that help them stay connected to their communities.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
