Are you an experienced, compassionate, and child-focused practitioner who is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with complex needs? Do you have experience working during the night and supporting children and young people in residential or short break settings? If so, this opportunity at Liberty House could be for you.
Liberty House provides planned overnight short break care seven days a week for up to seven children and young people aged 5–18 years who have physical or sensory disabilities, complex health needs, autism spectrum conditions, and behaviours that may challenge as a result of their disability. The service also provides an emergency short break provision when required.
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council has made a strategic commitment to investing in children’s residential services, ensuring that children and young people can remain close to their families, communities, schools, and support networks.
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Care Practitioner (Waking Nights) who holds, or is willing to undertake and complete within two years of appointment, a Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, Health and Social Care, or an equivalent recognised qualification. Applicants should have experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), autism, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, and complex health needs. Experience within residential childcare, short breaks, mental health provision, or crisis accommodation would be advantageous.
As a Waking Night Practitioner, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and care of children and young people overnight. You will be responsible for monitoring and supporting children throughout the night, responding to their individual needs, administering medication where appropriate, maintaining accurate records, undertaking household responsibilities, and ensuring a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment. You will work closely with the wider staff team to promote consistency of care and positive outcomes for children and young people accessing the service.
