About This Role

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Credit Controller to join our Finance Department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in credit control or accounts receivable to contribute to the financial operations of a forward-thinking and inclusive institution.

What You’ll Do

  • Actively contact customers by telephone and email to secure payment of outstanding invoices and account balances.
  • Maintain accurate records, diary notes, and follow-up actions to ensure timely debt recovery.
  • Develop productive working relationships with students, sponsors, funding bodies, and commercial customers.
  • Support the reduction of outstanding debt through structured credit control activity.
  • Provide guidance and support to Faculties and Departments on credit control matters.
  • Assist with Student Loans Company (SLC) processes and account maintenance.
  • Support colleagues during busy operational periods and staff absences.
  • Contribute to maintaining the University’s reputation through professional and customer-focused service.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience within a credit control, accounts receivable, or finance environment.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage workloads effectively and work independently.
  • A professional, proactive, and customer-focused approach.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office packages and finance systems.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
